Our Care Staff

Caring for others is a vocation, a calling. It takes a special person to want to devote their time to the caring and supporting of others, enhancing and improving an individual’s well-being and quality of life, and ultimately making a positive difference to the lives of others. The ability to show compassion, empathy, kindness, patience, and honesty are just some of the attributes that care staff must possess. The ability to communicate effectively, to act with integrity, and to work as a part of a team, are also attributes that we look for, along with a desire to go the extra mile for others.

Our care staff will be specially selected at interview stage and only chosen to join our team if we believe they have the necessary attributes, and share our values and mission to provide first class quality care to our clients. We will only recruit a new staff member if we believe that we could trust them to care for a member of our own family.

ID checks, reference checks and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be completed to ensure safeguarding for our clients. Care staff will then complete a thorough induction which will include our values, mission and commitment to quality, and mandatory and further training required for best practice and compliance. Refresher training will take place periodically as per requirements. Staff will also be encouraged to seek further national qualifications in health and social care to further their knowledge and development. Instant Homecare will support our staff to achieve their full potential within the social care sector.

Once training is complete, staff will then work shadow a more experienced member of staff until the staff member feels comfortable within their role and able to work on their own. This process will not be rushed. Competencies and observations will also be conducted to ensure that the staff member is competent to deliver safe, quality care to individuals before they are authorised to work on their own with our clients. Regular competency observations will be conducted by a senior member of staff to ensure the staff member works to our values and delivers a high standard of care to the individuals that they support.

It is extremely important for care staff to have an experienced, approachable management team to provide support and guidance whenever needed. Care staff and clients will always have a senior staff member they can contact by phone and will be given full support and guidance at all times.  Staff will have regular supervison meetings, and yearly appraisals, focusing on their continued development. All our management staff will be selected for their professionalism, experience, approachability, good character and their desirability to support both clients and staff in our mission to deliver a home care service of excellent quality to the local community.
